Local Knowledge

Another first class challange where a good straight drive from the tee is essential with Haining Rigg Burn waiting to the right and a plantation lurking to the left. Shorter hitters can run it down the hill leaving them with a five-wood or a four iron into the green, but that isnt good enough for low-handicappers who should be seeking another 50 yards from the tee.

This coincides with the point where the fairway becomes markedly narrower, but you should be left with around an eight-iron to the green. The flat expanse towards the green fools many visitors, causing them to under-club because of it being so difficult to judge distance. The green itself has a pronounced slope from back to front, which in turn adds extra difficulty.
