Leazes Syke, Hole No 2, Par 4 |
YardageWhite - 270 / Yellow - 267 / Red - 265 Local KnowledgeAccuracy from the tee is essential as there is a ditch winding the full length of the fairway and passing within a few feet of the green. Anything that goes to the left of the green will inevitably trickle down into the burn. To the right of the fairway is the brow of a hill - anything over that way leaves a tricky second shot. Even so, the hole is only 270 yards and for the low-handicapper the green is quite driveable. It is quite normal to take a two here, or as many as six or seven, purely becasue of the trouble which awaits around the green. Some of the high-handicappers and senior members prefer to take a short club from the tee and come up short of the burn leaving a longer second to the green. For low-handicappers, however, the temptation is always to go for the green.
