Local Knowledge

This can be an intimidating starting hole for the high-handicapper with a ditch running along the front of the tee. Good contact with the shot is essential and the aim is to get the ball to the top of the hill, opposite and onto the fairway. For the low handicapper, there is a line to be taken on the fir trees at Sheel Law, the object being to hit the ball as far as possible. There's plenty of room but Diggles Rough looms to the left and theres a ditch to the right.

Having hit a good tee shot the golfer is faced with a relatively long second to a green which is partially blind. There are bunkers left and right at the front of the green, neither of which can be seen, but the biggest pitfall is a bank over the back left of the green which will devour anything going right to left and running.
